The History of Cheltenham Amateur Swimming Club
Cheltenham Amateur Swimming Club was formed in 1964, and is one of the oldest active swimming clubs in Victoria.
In its early years, CASC operated out of the 50m outdoor pool in Highett known as the Turner Road Pool.
The site was developed, and the newly built Waves Leisure Centre became the home of Cheltenham Amateur Swimming Club, at which the club remains based today.
Cheltenham has a proud history of developing great swimming careers; past members include Australian and Olympic swimmers Nicole Stevenson, David Wilson, Toby Haenan, Jeff and Karen van de Graaf, and Debbie Cain, as well as champion open-water swimmers John and Tammy van Wisse.
