Junior Squad

 

Purpose

Cheltenham Swimming Club’s Junior Squad is for swimmers who want to be

dedicated to being competitive swimmers. The endeavour of swimmers in this

squad is to make finals at All Juniors and Metro Championships, and target

State Long Course and State Short Course.

Prerequisites:

  • This squad is for swimmers aged 11-13 targeting State times

  • Hold current Metro Championship Qualifying Times 

  • Dedicated to a 95% attendance rate

Requirements:

  • Dedicated to complete 4+ Pool Sessions per week

  • Must participate Wednesday Dryland Session at Waves​

  • Fulfill all Warm Up requirements before Competitions and Training as taught by Physio or Core Advantage

  • Minimum 2 competitions per month (check TeamApp for meets)

  • Swimmers must wear team uniform to every meet

Competition Expectations:

  • Competing in all meets targeted by Cheltenham

  • Events of 100m or longer, of two or more strokes

  • Target Metro Championships

  • Target Top 10  at All Juniors Districts

 

Injury Prevention Routine:

Your coach has outlined a regimen of Injury Prevention exercises that swimmers should complete before every swim session. This takes approximately 15 minutes. Swimmers will be required to complete the exercises before beginning training. 

You will need a red Theraband for the Injury Prevention exercises on pool deck. We also highly recommend having your own foam roller, trigger ball, and spikey ball for post-training recovery.
