Performance Squad

Coach: Jerome Elliott

Purpose:

Cheltenham Swimming Clubs Performance Squad is for swimmers who have

made the commitment to swimming as their main sport. The endeavour of

swimmers in this squad is to make it to an elite level through the pathways of

Australian Swimming, targeting National Age and Open Championships and

ultimately to represent a National Team/ Australian Team.

 

Prerequisites

  • Dedicated to complete 7+ Sessions per week (5+ for VCE Students upon coaches meeting)

  • Swimmers must be 14 years old or above (13 for girls)

  • Work with coach to develop & continually adopt a swimmer profile, including 4 Year Plan 

  • Dedicated to 95% attendance rate

 

Before a swimmer may join Performance Squad, he or she will be rated using a Talent Identification Matrix and must score a minimum rating.

 

Training Expectations

  • Complete bench marks during test sets

  • Commitment to skills progressions

  • Commitment to injury prevention and activation exercises prior to training and competition

  • Be a leader and have a positive attitude and strong training culture

  • Must participate in either or a combination of the below:

    • 1 x Pilates Session at Move Move and 1 x Dryland Session at Waves

    • 2+ x Sessions per week at Core Advantage

 

Competition Expectations

  • Reaching 2+ Finals in both State Age and/ or Open Championships

  • Reach Nationals in 2 or more events, over 2 or more strokes

  • Reach Finals at an Age National Level

  • Reach Finals at an Open National Level

  • Make a Junior or Open National Team
