The Cheltenham Amateur Swimming Club has an opportunity for an enthusiastic Junior Coach who wants to be part of our dynamic team, which has consistently placed Top 10 in Victoria.
We require a team-oriented coach wishing to be part of a strong coaching unit and growing club. The role is an excellent opportunity for a passionate coach who wants to work with a successful club focused on building our team dynamic.
The successful applicant will plan and execute training sessions of swimmers ranging in ability from our entry-level squad (Intro Squad) through junior development and lifelong swimming pathways such as open-water and triathlon oriented swimmers.
We are looking for someone who loves engaging with our younger swimmers (ages 8-12) as well as our older Senior Squad members. Experience teaching swimmers with disabilities is desirable but not required. This role starts at 5-7 hours/week with the option of additional hours.
Key duties in the role are to:
Nurture and foster the love of swimming amongst our swimmers
Enthusiastically contribute to the team atmosphere and promote Cheltenham initiatives
Participate in team activities
Represent Cheltenham with integrity, enthusiasm, and passion
Provide regular feedback and updates to swimmers and their parents
Attend encouragement meets and Swimming Victoria meets as asked by Head Junior Coach
Have weekend availability for Saturday and/or Sunday squad sessions and meets
Assist in execution of Cheltenham Encouragement Meets and our Club Champs series
Report to Head Junior Coach
Qualifications:
ASCTA Teacher of Competitive Swimming license
Working With Children Check
First Aid qualification
Excellent communication skills
A background in competitive swimming
2+ years' experience as a swimming teacher or club coach
It is expected that the successful applicant will undertake ongoing professional development of their coaching skills as asked by our senior coaching team.
